About personal life, motherhood, hatred and much more: the most important thing from an interview with Irina Shayk

Irina Shayk posed for Vogue España. The model was shot by Elizaveta Porodina (by the way, they wrote about Elizabeth here). Makeup was done by make-up artist Isamaya French. In a chat with reporters, the catwalk star talked about her personal life, money, motherhood and much more.

About attitude to money

“I am in favor of investing in quality products that I will wear for many years. But it’s insane to pay a fortune for something like a luxury bathrobe. My mother was making $10 a month. I like that nobody knows the value of things and money. I save money, I don’t spend money on crazy trends that won’t happen next year.”

About personal life

“I don’t think it’s right/wrong to avoid revealing your private life or, on the contrary, to be frank about it in every corner. You just need to be yourself. I’ve always been a pretty introverted person, so my natural choice is to separate my work from my private life. It makes me feel real.”

about beauty

“Sex is about self-confidence. A woman who feels great in her own body is always beautiful and attractive. Being sexy is not a matter of looks. It’s not about high heels and makeup. Now we can see many more examples of inclusivity on the runways: different body types, ethnicities, sizes… All these girls are gorgeous!

“I think fashion has completely changed in the last five years. The industry shows that women can be beautiful and deep into their twenties. I’ve just turned 37 and I don’t think there is an age limit beyond which I would be considered “inappropriate”. Check out the supermodels of the 90s! It all works and looks great.”

about motherhood

“We women feel a certain social pressure, the relative age for motherhood. In my country, if you don’t have children after the age of 20, it’s already too late. I recommend taking as much time for yourself as you need. But at the same time, I think motherhood is the best experience you can have. My daughter is my best friend. Motherhood doesn’t mean you have to wear certain clothes or go to bed early. Be a mother and be yourself. You don’t owe anyone.”

about hate

“I don’t think I should fight any prejudice against myself because I’m lucky to do what I’m passionate about and I don’t have to explain anything to anyone. For some, what I do will be very important. Nothing for others. There are people who will say, “Yes, she’s just a model.” You should always stick to what you love. It doesn’t matter who loves you and who hates you.”
