‘CNN This Morning’ executive producer is leaving the Network Late Night show

The Executive Producer of CNN this morning leaving the show and moving to the hour 11 p.m CNN tonight moderated by Laura Coates.

Eric Hall’s departure comes less than three months after the revamped morning show began. The network has yet to name a successor, but one is expected soon, according to a source. The Wrap first reported Hall’s exit.

CNN this morning launched in November with hosts Don Lemon, Kaitlan Collins and Poppy Harlow and focused on the chemistry and conversations between the three hosts, as well as the network’s correspondents around the world. The revamp was a priority for CNN Worldwide Chairman and CEO Chris Licht, who played a central role in its co-creation and launch. Good morning Joe on MSNBC and later the revival of the CBS morning show.

CNN this morning follows Fox News’ fox and friends, average 1.33 million and Good morning Joewith a post of 905,000. In the 25-54 demo fox and friends 192,000 on average, compared to 104,000 previously Good morning Joe and 83,000 before that CNN this morning.

Licht announced other CNN changes last week, including an overhaul of the daily schedule, which will feature a trio of hosts in the morning and afternoon blocks. CNN’s 9 p.m. ET slot, which has had a number of rotating hosts since Chris Cuomo was fired in December 2021, remains unfilled. Sources say Licht and another top executive, Ryan Kadro, are considering a number of non-traditional options, including a comedian or entertainer.

Coates and Alysin Camerota were mentioned CNN tonight10 p.m. ET to midnight last fall after Lemon left for the morning show.
