The sequence in September 2018 had deeply shaken: host of the show Hello earthlingsÉric Zemmour has attacked the host and entrepreneur Hapsatou Sy, judging his name is not enough ” French ” in her eyes, and decreeing that she should be called Corinne.

A condemnation of Éric Zemmour full of symbols
The court described the comments made by Eric Zemmour as“outrageous” : “Even if they have a link to the initial debate [ces propos] they are clearly distinguished from the latter since they degenerate into a strictly personal attack of a discriminatory nature.
Accustomed to the procedures against him, Eric Zemmour was already convicted of provoking religious hatred for Islamophobic remarks in 2016 and is the subject of several other complaints.
For her part, Hapsatou Sy expressed her great satisfaction with this verdict. In 2021 she had also resigned from the Canal + group, according to her too compliant with Éric Zemmour’s racist statements. The landlord’s lawyer also underlined the symbolic aspect of this court decision: “there is probably the recognition of a whole part of the French population”
1/2 It is a matter of great pride to have held out during all these years and to have been able to convict Éric Zemmour for insulting a racist nature. My name is my identity, my origins are my strength and, behind me, I hope many other French people feel liberated
