Kevin Spacey has pleaded not guilty to more sexual assault charges in the UK

Kevin Spacey has pleaded not guilty to seven charges related to alleged sexual assault in the UK.

The Oscar-winning actor appeared via video link at Southwark Crown Court today. Dressed in a black suit, shirt and light-colored tie, he spoke to confirm his real name, Kevin Fowler, then denied all seven charges.

The seven charges were brought by a single male complainant. The incidents apparently took place between 2001 and 2004. These include three counts of indecent assault, three counts of sexual assault and one count of sexual activity without an individual’s consent.

The trial date has been set for June 6, 2023, the date for the case of three men to whom Spacey has already pleaded not guilty. Spacey’s lawyer, Patrick Gibbs, has agreed to join the cases, meaning they will be heard in a trial expected to last about four weeks. In total, Spacey faces 12 charges, all of which relate to his time in London when he was artistic director of the Old Vic Theatre.

Spacey has already been granted unconditional bail, and next up is a pretrial review scheduled for April 5 today. Further pretrial hearings will take place in March and April. The actor appeared at a hearing on December 16 to confirm his name, date of birth and address.

It’s been a busy start to the year for Spacey, who will accept Spacey’s honor on Monday (January 16) at an event hosted by the National Film Museum in the northern city of Turin. The two-time Oscar winner will present a public masterclass moderated by the museum’s director, Domenico De Gaetano, and will then receive the institution’s Stella della Mole Lifetime Achievement Award.
