The trailer for Evil Dead Rise

6500 liters of blood at the casting

More than 40 years after the release of the horrible masterpiece by Sam Raimi (the director who owes the films Spiderman with Tobey Maguire, in short, the best of all), evil Dead always has the wind at its back.

The Rise of the Evil Dead constitutes the fifth part of the saga. As a reminder, Fede Alvarez had made a restart of the film in 2013: it took place in the continuity of the original trilogy, but introduced new characters.

What better way to celebrate the longevity of the franchise than a good, great amount of blood ? Indeed, according to the director of this new work, Irishman Lee Cronin, there are no less 6500 liters of fake blood (yeah) that would be used on set. What to make Stanley Kubrick and his blood wave jealous shining !

Produced by Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbellthe lead actor of the first film, The Rise of the Evil Dead follows the nightmare of two sisters, starring Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan. After a long separation, their reunion is interrupted by the appearance of carnivorous demons. A bloody battle for their survival ensues…

But then, it’s a remakea sequel, a restart ? In an interview released in 2021 a Entertainment WeeklyBruce Campbell (who is not in the cast of this new film) clarified this point:

People can call it whatever they want: a sequel, a remake, a reimagining. It’s really just another Evil Dead movie. It is centered around the book. Everything revolves around the Necronomicon. Where is this book and what has become of it over the millennia? »

For the bravest and least sensitive to hemoglobin: The Rise of the Evil Dead will be released in theaters on April 19, 2023 !
