Michael B. Jordan plays the first game as part of a new ownership group for English football club AFC Bournemouth

Black Panther and Believe Star Michael B. Jordan attended Saturday’s English Premier League soccer match between AFC Bournemouth and Crystal Palace, his first since becoming a minority shareholder in the ownership group that acquired Bournemouth earlier this month.

Jordan was quickly recognized and praised by the club’s supporters when he arrived for the home game at the Vitality Stadium in Bournemouth, a coastal town about two hours south-west of London.

Earlier this month, Jordan was announced as part of a new AFC Bournemouth ownership group led by NHL Las Vegas Golden Knights owner Bill Foley. Foley was also on hand for tonight’s game, a 2-0 defeat to the Cherries that left them with a 4-9-4 win-loss-draw record, level on points with sixth-placed Leeds from the end of the EPL rating.

When the deal was announced on December 15, Bournemouth revealed that Jordan and Nullah Sarker were part of the minority group and said the pair would “work closely with Bill in areas such as global marketing and the club’s internationalisation”.

Foley reportedly paid around $150 million for the club through his investment company, Cannae Holdings Inc.

The gig is Jordan’s first foray into sports ownership, but the actor-producer is no stranger to sports. He is currently working on it Creed III, the latest installment in the Rocky spin-off franchise, which he will direct and reprise as boxer Adonis Creed. The United Artists picture was released in theaters on March 3.
