Janet Barboza, host of 'América Hoy,' has responded to accusations that she and co-host Edson 'Giselo' Dávila betrayed Ethel Pozo and Gisela Valcárcel, saying the conflict does not matter to her.
Barboza is nearing seven years on 'América Hoy' and says the show is going through its best stretch yet, crediting the chemistry between her, Dávila and Rebeca Escribens for strengthening the program and drawing an enthusiastic audience response.
28 years of controversy
Asked about the dispute with Pozo and her mother, Valcárcel, Barboza said that if she listed every controversy she had been through in her 28-year career, she would have enough material for a book, each one heavier than the last. She said that at this stage of her life, controversies are not important, calling this one just another episode that is not relevant.
Barboza also said criticism does not affect her, explaining that she always gives one hundred percent in her work and has worked at almost every television channel, in the morning, midday, afternoon and night slots.
What she would do if they met
Asked what she would do if she ran into her former colleague Ethel Pozo or former 'América Hoy' producer Gisela Valcárcel, Barboza said firmly that she holds deep affection and enormous respect for everyone she has worked with. She said she does not make further comments about former colleagues, that she hopes things go well for all of them, and that the people who have worked with her are very talented.
Despite the differences and the accusations that she and Dávila betrayed Pozo and Valcárcel, Barboza is now trying to lower the temperature of the feud, after previously responding firmly on her own program.
