The International Atomic Energy Agency plans to soon remove nuclear material from a secret site in Syria known as Site 99, according to the news outlet Axios.
Sources told Axios the decision followed an understanding reached between the administration of United States President Donald Trump and both the Syrian and Israeli sides.
The sources said the site held nuclear material known as yellowcake, which was part of a project to build a nuclear reactor at Al-Kibar.
Background on Al-Kibar
In September 2007, Israel destroyed a secret facility at Al-Kibar that American and Israeli intelligence services said was a nuclear reactor.
Syria's foreign minister at the time, Walid al-Moallem, said traces of uranium found by IAEA inspectors at the destroyed site resulted from the Israeli bombing.
