A heroic seven-year-old boy saved his sultry classmate’s life by performing the Heimlich maneuver, which he says he learned by watching the medical drama The Good Doctor with his parents.
David Diaz Jr., a sophomore at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School in Binghamton, New York, was labeled a local hero after helping another drowning child.
David Jr. took action when he noticed that one of his friends, DeAndre, was gasping for breath when a slice of pizza got stuck in his throat during lunch.
Without hesitation, he rushed to DeAndre and began the Heimlich maneuver—a method used when someone is choking—a method in which you wrap your arms around the person and do abdominal thrusts with your fisted hands and loosen the food appropriately.
