Revealed: Only a THIRD of people in some parts of England have had their first Covid vaccination as the healthy over-50 booster program comes to an end… so use this interactive map to see how low uptake in YOU area is

Just a third of people in some English neighborhoods have ever had a Covid vaccination, MailOnline can reveal.

Around 13 million people across the country have never been vaccinated against the virus – despite the historic program that began more than two years ago.

It comes as the multibillion-dollar vaccination surge begins to wane as the country adjusts to post-pandemic life.

People under the age of 50 can no longer receive a booster dose from today, as ministers and health officials plan to withdraw invitations to the first and second doses in the coming year.

Government figures, available here as an interactive map, show a huge difference in Covid vaccine uptake across the country since the program began in December 2020.

MailOnline analyzes of England’s more than 6,700 counties found that in some cases two out of three people avoided even the very first offer.

An analysis by the Office for National Statistics calculated how much of each Covid wave infected England’s population. The last, Omicron BA.4/5, was the largest, infecting 46.3 percent of the population. Individuals may appear twice in the data, for example after contracting Covid once at the start of the pandemic and then again during the omicron peak

Just 37.5 per cent of people living in Harehills South in Leeds have had their first shot, according to data based on all over-12s.

This was followed by the boroughs of Ayresome, Middlesbrough (44.3 per cent) and Headington in Oxford (44.4 per cent).

According to statistics, 25 districts have an admission rate of less than 50 percent.

East Preston & Rustington East in Arun, Sussex and Whickham in Gateshead had the joint highest first dose Covid vaccination rate in the country at 94.1 per cent.

Our analysis comes despite a massive campaign to get Britons to roll up their sleeves and get a Covid vaccine.

This should reduce the risk of becoming seriously ill from the virus and enable the NHS and society in general to return to pre-pandemic normality.

Health advisers have credited the vaccine push with drastically reducing the threat of the virus, which has saved tens of thousands of lives.

This allowed the nation to confidently move forward into post-pandemic life with draconian restrictions in its wake.

Yesterday’s withdrawal of boosters for under-50s is the first step in ending the massive Covid vaccination drive, which is estimated to have cost around £6bn so far.

Effective immediately, scratch shots will only be made available to people in this group who have conditions that put them at greater risk of serious illness from the virus.

These can be people with lung and heart disease, diabetes, cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy, and pregnant women.

There are also plans to carry out another Covid booster shot for high-risk groups this autumn, similar to the long-running flu shot campaign that takes place every year.

A total of 145 million doses of Covid vaccine have been distributed across the UK since British grandmother Maggie Keenan became the first person in the world to receive the vaccine outside of a medical study on 8 December 2020.

But according to the same data set, the uptake of England’s first Covid vaccine is around 78 per cent.

This is equivalent to approximately 12 million people who have never had their first vaccine.

The reasons why people rejected the Covid vaccine are not included in the data.

However, Britons have previously cited concerns about the safety of the sting, or a general disbelief that the pandemic was even real, as reasons behind their refusal.

But study after study has shown them to be safe for the vast majority of people who use them.

While the injections, like any medical treatment, carry the risk of rare side effects, these have been greatly exaggerated by conspiracy theorists.

A recent analysis by MailOnline found that just 75 Britons have died from complications from Covid vaccines, compared to almost 220,000 deaths from the virus itself.

MailOnline’s analysis uses government data based on the National Immunization Management System (NIMS) for population estimates.

NIMS is based on people registered with the NHS and is updated weekly, making it more up-to-date than other annual population estimates.

However, the GGD explained it NIMS is likely to overestimate the population and therefore underestimate vaccine uptake.

This is partly because deaths and emigration are not always updated in the dataset, which can affect the results.

The same applies to people who have left England, who can still be counted in the same data until the system catches up with their emigration.

Other government figures using an alternative 2020 population estimate from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) to calculate immunization coverage.

This method shows that 94 percent of the eligible population in England received their first Covid vaccination.

The number would leave just over 3 million people who never had the first Covid vaccine.

The latest data from the ONS showed that Covid has recovered somewhat in England, with up to one in 65 people infected.

It was the first rise in cases in five weeks, reversing a broader downward trend since Christmas.

Although analysts claim it is too early to say whether the surge will continue, health chiefs have been warning for weeks of a possible surge caused by new Covid variants Kraken and Orthrus.
