MailOnline readers were infuriated yesterday after reading about a 34-year-old British vegan who drinks her own stale urine every day.
Now doctors are warning of an even more disgusting trend: consuming the urine of strangers.
Urine bottles can be purchased for as little as £8 from online fetish sites where vendors encourage customers to drink or ‘make a cup of tea’.
Dr. Zakariya Waqar-Uddin, a family doctor in West London, told MailOnline that urine is a waste product that provides no benefit and is therefore excreted from the body.
And drinking other people’s urine puts people at risk of contracting the infections they have, he said.
“The fetish market is getting weirder and weirder and trying to raise the bar in every possible way,” he said.
Surprisingly, he fears that the cost of the life crisis will cause more people to sell their monsters online. Dr. Waqar-Uddin said rising energy, food and fuel bills are forcing people to “think outside the box”.
Harry Matadeen’s bizarre confession that he drank a month’s worth of urine yesterday made international headlines, making headlines in France, Spain, Hungary and even Brazil.
Mr. Matadeen described himself as “open-minded” and explained how he started this strange habit in 2016 because he was “desperate to cure his mental health problems”.
He said that drinking 200 ml of urine a day gave him “a new sense of peace, calm and determination” and healed him almost instantly.
Harry Matadeen (pictured), 34, of Hampshire, started drinking urine in the summer of 2016 because he was “desperate to cure his depression” and was “open-minded” about how to do it.

Doctors today beg the British to stop buying used condoms and tampons, urine bottles (pictured), and stool containers. Doctors fear that the dreaded lists that can be posted online for as little as £8 per person will only become more common as a result of the cost of living crisis.
And Mr. Matadeen, who sometimes took his own stream and sprinkled it on his face, said it was “the secret of eternal youth.”
Urine therapy is said to date back to the Bible. Historical records show that the Aztecs used it to disinfect wounds, and its supposed benefits are also mentioned in Indian and Chinese literature.
Among her fans is Madonna, “urophagia,” a term used to describe the strange practice.

However, there is no scientific evidence for this.
Doctors agree that drinking small amounts of urine is generally harmless and may be better than nothing in a life-or-death situation.
But consuming your own urine can cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, and can cause electrolyte imbalances, accelerating dehydration.
Dr. Waqar-Uddin said: ‘Drinking your own urine only exposes you to diseases or infections you already have.
“But drinking other people’s urine exposes you to the infection they have.”
Bacteria in other people’s urine can cause gastrointestinal problems and other infections, such as salmonella and shigella.
And drinking urine strains the kidneys, which flush out toxins from the blood and turn waste products like potassium and nitrogen into urine.
Consuming urine means the kidneys have to work hard to filter waste again.
Dr. Jeff Foster, a family doctor in Warwickshire, said: “There are no known health benefits of drinking your own (or anyone else’s) urine or smearing it on your body.
It’s much worse by mouth – it can actually speed up the dehydration process and potentially infect bacteria.
“As a result, if you didn’t eat or brush your own stool, the same principle as urine would no longer be healthy.
‘Waste is not waste at all.’
Urine jars, sometimes described as ‘sweet nectar’, are also available for just £8.
An advertisement features a 500ml bottle of Highland Spring containing a yellowish liquid.
It reads: ‘There is so much to really enjoy in this bottle… pour it on your head, wash your face, drink it, sit back and smell it, gargle with it, make a cup of tea… the choice is yours.’
A separate post recommending 30ml of urine in a funky stated that you could ask for more but it would cost more.
Another offers “freshly made urine” that is “made to order and shipped first class”.
USED URINE, PARTY AND BUMPERS AND CONdoms – YOU CAN BUY THINGS ONLINE ON GRIMTE
Online fetish markets can also purchase used stool trays, tampons, and condoms.
One female user of the Kinkie adult market boasts that she is “currently on her period”.
The £10 offer has a caption that reads, “I was wondering if anyone would be interested in buying my used menstrual pads”.
The same seller claiming to be “cute” 24-year-old Katie is offering a “used condom” for the same price plus a £5 shipping fee.
Other offerings promise blood-soaked, urine-filled tampons for up to £20.
Kinkie’s also has offerings on fresh “stool” tubs, which is another term for stool.
Some sellers boast that their deposits were made “that morning” and post videos of the incident.
Other users promise the packages will be “smell-free” so shoppers can enjoy them “in any bad way you want.”
Dr. Mark Lawton, a sexual health adviser and spokesperson for the British Association for Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH), said condoms “are effective protection against sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV and pregnancy, but they should not be reused”.
He warned that blood, semen and feces “can expose people to infections.”
“But BASHH recognizes people’s right to enjoy sex and respects diversity,” he added.
Feces can transmit infectious diseases such as hepatitis, meningitis, shigella intestinal infection and stomach rotavirus.
Used tampons can transmit blood-borne diseases such as liver inflammation, hepatitis, and HIV, while used condoms can transmit STDs.
Dr Zakariya Waqar-Uddin, a family doctor in West London, told MailOnline that urine and faces are waste products that do no good, so they are excreted from the body and can be toxic.
He warned that the fecal-oral route – as people digest stool – can cause a variety of illnesses, from mild gastroenteritis, a stomach virus that causes vomiting and diarrhea, to hepatitis “which can be fatal.”
Dr. Any product contaminated with blood, such as tampons, has “the potential to transmit hepatitis B and C and HIV,” Waqar-Uddin said.
HIV and other sexually transmitted viruses can live outside the body for up to two weeks, so even used condoms can transmit these viruses, he warned.
Dr. Waqar-Uddin said: “The risk of STDs from used condoms is comparable to sharing needles.
“God knows what people do with these things. No one has ever been a family doctor and said to use it.
He said the cost of going through a crisis is pushing people to find new ways to make money and think “outside the box”.
But selling these products to pay the bills is “inexcusable” and is as bad as selling drugs because it harms the health of others, Dr. Waqar-Uddin.
“People are bored and want to do taboo things, but they need to ask themselves if it poses a health risk. A lot of people don’t think about the health effects,” he added.
