Actors Guy Pearce and Jeff Daniels have joined the cast of director Trudie Styler's new feature film The Reception, which is now filming in Scotland.
According to a report by entertainment trade publication Deadline, the comedy also stars Sabrina Impacciatore, Rachael Stirling and Selena Tan. Production has officially started on location across a luxury Scottish estate.
The film centres on an extravagant wedding that goes wrong when the groom, Felix, leaves his bride, Victoria, at the altar. Rather than calling off the event, the abandoned bride's relatives and friends try to manage the lavish celebration on their own.
While trying to save face in front of the other attendees, the guests find themselves caught in a series of comedic disasters, chaotic situations and unexpected new acquaintances.
The screenplay was written by Tom Stourton and Tom Palmer, the British writing team behind the comedy All My Friends Hate Me.

The Reception is the fourth feature film directed by Styler, an English actress and producer who is married to musician Sting. Her previous film, Up Against It, was presented this autumn at the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada.
Styler's directing credits also include the 2017 film Freak Show and the documentary Posso Entrare? An Ode to Naples, which won Italy's prestigious Globo d'Oro award in 2024. In addition to directing, Styler is producing the new project with Celine Rattray and Piers Tempest.
The project brings together an experienced international ensemble from major screen productions. Daniels previously starred in the science fiction film The Martian and the television drama American Rust, while Pearce recently appeared in the historical drama The Brutalist and the thriller The Woman in Cabin 10.
Impacciatore is widely known for her role in the hit television series The White Lotus and the comedy series The Paper. Stirling's credits include the television drama The Bletchley Circle and the series Rivals, while Tan appeared in the romantic comedy Crazy Rich Asians.
