Director Matt Lipsey has begun filming Almost You, an upcoming science-fiction comedy-drama starring Juno Temple, Joey King and James McAvoy, on location in Scotland.
The feature marks a creative reunion for Lipsey and Temple, who previously worked together on the hit sports series Ted Lasso. Temple played the ambitious public relations manager Keeley Jones in the popular football comedy, earning widespread critical acclaim and multiple award nominations for her performance.
Plot of Almost You
The storyline follows a brilliant engineer who is struggling to come to terms with the death of her younger sister. In defiance of all rules, the grieving engineer gathers archived text messages and social media posts to assemble a realistic digital copy of her relative.
Although the creation initially brings her great joy, the situation later forces her to confront profound ethical doubts, leaving her to question whether it is ever right to bring someone back to life.
Cast and creative team
The production brings together an established international ensemble alongside Temple. Scottish actor James McAvoy and American actress Joey King take on key roles as filming begins.
McAvoy is widely known for portraying the mutant leader Professor Charles Xavier across the blockbuster X-Men franchise, having also starred in the period romance Becoming Jane. King appeared in the superhero epic The Dark Knight before starring alongside Brad Pitt as an assassin in the action thriller Bullet Train.
Lipsey has directed extensively across British television comedy, earning widespread international recognition for his episodes of Ted Lasso. The award-winning series followed an optimistic American college football coach who moved to the United Kingdom to manage an English football club.
