Director Gareth Edwards has left the new film in the Jurassic World franchise due to creative differences, Entertainment Weekly reported.

Universal confirmed the departure of the director, noting that it was an incredible pleasure for the studio to work with Gareth on the previous picture. Screenwriter David Koepp, as well as actors Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali, still plan to work on the new installment, according to media reports. The previous film in the franchise, Jurassic World: Rebirth, grossed $872 million at the worldwide box office, according to analytics center Numbers.

Michael Jackson Biopic Sequel

Film studio Lionsgate officially announced the development of a sequel to its biographical movie about Michael Jackson. According to company plans, filming will start in late 2026 or early 2027, and the picture premiere is expected between late 2027 and early 2028.

The first part, which ended with the events of the 1987 tour, set a record in the biopic genre, collecting $977 million at the global box office and surpassing Oppenheimer and Bohemian Rhapsody in earnings.
