Model Gabbriette Bechtel has described husband Matty Healy as her best friend following their sunset wedding ceremony at Castillo del Lago in Los Angeles.
The 29-year-old musician opened up about her marriage while posing in a minidress, heels, and faux fur coat for the Harper's Bazaar September 2026 Icons issue.
The couple tied the knot last month at the historic estate underneath the Hollywood sign, kissing at exactly 7 p.m. as the sun began to set. Bechtel walked down the aisle in a white dress before Healy performed a set with his band, The 1975, for guests at the reception.
Celebrity guests at the ceremony included singer Charli XCX, actress Emily Ratajkowski, model Alex Consani, Healy's bandmates, and his mother, English television presenter Denise Welch.
Harper's Bazaar Photoshoot and Marriage Comments
Speaking to Harper's Bazaar about her new life as a married woman, Bechtel said she does not feel like married life is going to be very different.
"I feel like I've already met my best friend," Bechtel said. "The wedding is for our moms and dads. I wanted to do, like, a 50-person thing in a field, so."
A representative for the couple confirmed the nuptials in an official statement, saying: "Matty Healy and Gabbriette Bechtel were married at a private ceremony in Los Angeles, attended by their family and close friends."
A source close to the couple added that they work really well together and are absolutely in love with each other. The insider noted that Bechtel is "the whole package" and that the right person came along to make Healy want to settle down.
Relationship History and Engagement
The couple were first linked in September 2023 when they were spotted enjoying a steamy public display of affection in New York City. The romance followed 37-year-old Healy's split from singer-songwriter Taylor Swift earlier that summer in June 2023.
They announced their engagement in 2024 after a whirlwind nine-month romance, not long after Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce publicly confirmed their own relationship.
Following their wedding ceremony in Los Angeles last month, the newlyweds spent their honeymoon travelling across California.
Belated Birthday and Career Reflections
Due to being away on honeymoon during her actual birthday on July 28, Bechtel celebrated her 29th birthday with a belated party earlier this month at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles.
Bechtel showcased her figure at the venue in a completely sheer dress over black lace lingerie, while Healy appeared in high spirits, waving to onlookers as he got into the back of a car.
In her magazine interview, Bechtel also opened up about her approach to life and her modeling career, confessing that she struggles with stage fright and hates walking fashion runways.
"I've only done runway, like, five times at this point, and I'm horrible at it," Bechtel said. "I used to love being onstage, and I thought it would be the same, and it's abso-f*****g-lutely not. It is the worst. It's the worst feeling on the planet. I don't know why people do it to themselves. It's horrifying."
She added that she loves working, travelling, and everything about her career, explaining that her main challenges involve being around negative people who fail to appreciate the bigger picture. Bechtel noted that while some people get severely affected by criticism, she has learned not to take it to heart and simply laugh.
