Rescuers captured a four-meter python after it broke into a poultry farm near the Thai city of Pattaya late at night, publication The Thaiger reported. The farm owner was resting at home when he heard a loud noise coming from the chicken coop. He shone a flashlight inside and discovered the large python wrapped around one of his birds.
Unwilling to tackle the reptile himself, the owner contacted emergency specialists. Workers from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan, a foundation that conducts rescue operations in Pattaya, arrived at the farm at around 11:30 p.m.
Rescue operation in the coop
Rescuers found the snake hanging from the roof frame of the coop while still holding onto the chicken. The size and strength of the python, combined with how high it had climbed, complicated the rescue effort. The team called in two firefighters to assist with the operation.
It took more than half an hour for the responders to immobilize the snake and place it inside a bag. Rescuers later released the python back into the wild.
Previous snake incident
The incident follows an earlier report from Indonesia, where a 7.8-meter python swallowed a woman in North Maluku province. Her husband subsequently killed the giant reptile.
