Sounds like Ben Affleck will get another opportunity to direct a DC film for DC Studios. According to Deadline, James Gunn and Peter Safran they’ve been in talks with Affleck to stay in the DC Universe… but only as a director.
While Affleck will appear in the upcoming film The flash, it doesn’t look like we’ll see him play the character again after that. Like Cavill, his time as Batman is over. But maybe he will be involved in another Batman project.
Gunn and Safran plan to reveal their full DC plan in January, but until then, they’re holding meetings with various talent “connected to the universe to share their vision as they craft a more cohesive plan for the comic book brand that spans by all means.”
Gunn and Safran’s entire goal is to embark on a mission to tell the “greatest story ever told across multiple films, television shows, and animated projects.” Gunn’s recently announced Superman movie will launch this new DC Cinematic Universe, and I imagine we’ll see new versions of all the fan-favorite DC characters as they build their plan.
