Emma Kubertthe artist behind Franco Miller’S Pandora and Image Comics’ Ink blot and Radiant pink series, has its own story to tell in an upcoming fantasy action/adventure series, Stoneheart. Here is the official synopsis:
In Stoneheart, the bubbly and headstrong Shayde Whisper has inexplicably been exiled from her magical guild and relocated, left with only dim memories and a fictionalized hope. But when she hears a sinister voice in her head that awakens a power beyond her understanding, she will traverse her past and her present to unveil her prestigious place in the mystical land of Athea!
Sounds like a sorcerer’s backstory for Dungeons & Dragons. Which I’m by no means saying as a negative, I think it should really be a pretty cool series to get into. It was also a deeply personal project for Kubert who says:
Stoneheart introduces a new perspective on the hero’s journey and a deep dive into our capabilities for great good and great evil. I began this series simply as a catharsis to help me deal with the many mundane issues my generation is facing today, but it has slowly culminated in a confrontation of my own inner monologue… …art, writing and lettering they are all a reflection of myself and my dedication to industry and craftsmanship. Through humor, adventure, excitement, action and love, Stoneheart tackles our inner self-worth and creates a whole new fantasy; a fantasy in which we fight for peace.
I love when creators create something so personal for us. It’s brave when they can become vulnerable like that and talk about not just the idea for the story, but how it influenced them to create it. You can pick up issue #1 when it hits comic shops and digitally March 8, 2023.
