‘The search (National Treasure)’, legendary adventure franchise starring Nicolas Cage in the first decade of the 2000s, is back. This time he doesn’t do it with a film sequel, but Disney has dared with a television series. ‘The Quest: Beyond the Story’ is an update on the entertaining epics of the past, set in the same universe as the two Cage films and also promising some very interesting connections to them.

The plot of the series follows the story of Jess, a girl who belongs to the DREAM organization. The young woman wants to investigate her family past and, thanks to her curiosity and talent, He ends up embarking on a search for a lost Pan-American treasure that may give him the missing key to finding out who he is. But the task will not be easy, because a rich and daring woman, played by Catherine Zeta-Jones, also wants to get the loot.
an immortal saga
During the press conference to present the series, which eCartelera was able to attend, the leading actress Lisette Olivera confessed what it meant to enter such a well-known franchise. “From the very beginning we decided to continue this story with all possible honor. It will be a very fun trip for everyone. I can assure you that we had a lot of fun doing it, so it was a great experience. I’m so excited”the interpreter specifies.

“Who doesn’t love a scavenger hunt? This series is a series in its own right, even though it has…it’s a great homage to that great franchise. It’s a modernization with this wonderfully talented young blood, with a great script from Cormac Wibberley and Marianne Wibberley, who wrote the original films. So it’s just an expansion, but a very up-to-date one.”adds Zeta-Jones, enthusiastic about the series.
For his part, Lyndon Smith, who brings Ross to life, says that the whole saga shares the same spirit. “I think at its core ‘The Search’ is about the story, that’s the heart and soul of this franchise. To be able to re-open that world now, 15 or 20 years later… I mean, it’s the story, we wrote every second. So there will always be a place in our world for ‘The Search’, because there are endless stories to explore, different cultures we can introduce”reflect.

inherit an inheritance
In Zeta-Jones’ case, ‘The Search’ is the second known franchise he’s starred in in the last month, since he’s also part of the cast of ‘Wednesday,’ from ‘The Addams Family.’ For her, being able to explore already consolidated stories is a privilege. “The key is to give them a new life, you know? Certain films, certain television series, are in our subconscious. I just am, and I happen to be two of them.”the Oscar-winning actress makes her debut.
“It’s something generational but I saw them when they came out and then my kids love them”account in reference to the films of ‘The Search’. “That’s giving it a new lease on life because the fundamentals are there, we all love it. It’s not ‘Oh, how can we make this better?’ It’s just another attempt.”. Finally, he concludes by stating that they achieved their goal by keeping up to date and sticking to reality. “With the technology we have today, we can all use it to do this treasure hunt. It’s a completely different world. It’s about keeping the foundation and the fun and joy that made it an original hit, and then introducing different elements like a younger environment and that everything we do is attached to reality.”phrase.

Treasure hunt
One of the issues that the cast of ‘The Quest: Beyond the Story’ wanted to address was their potential courage in finding real treasure, if given the chance. “I’d go looking for him, sure”says Zeta-Jones, “I often go to flea markets and places like that, you know. I’m always on the lookout for anything. Yeah, I would definitely go looking for it.”.
“I think so”asks Jake Austin Walker, “I mean, if you have a lead that no one else has, I feel like you have to. You have no choice. Like, if you were lucky, as our characters are, to find a lead on something like this, you should go after it.”. Olivera believes she would only do it until it becomes a risk. “I’ll look for it until such time as I think it becomes a little dangerous. It’s what sets me apart from Jess. She doesn’t care, or she does, obviously, but she thinks she can.”exhibits.
What everyone agrees on is the most valuable treasures they own. The answer is unanimous. “Family”, “friends” Y “Health” These are the three great fortunes that the entire cast of ‘The Search: Beyond History’ boasts about. Though Zeta-Jones adds his dog, to which Smith and Zuri Reed laugh back “it’s also a family”.

Another of the anecdotes from the press conference came when the younger ones were asked about their Disney fans, since the series is streamed through the La Casa del Ratón platform. “I was absolutely obsessed with all things Disney Channel. My favorite series was ‘Raven'”reveals Reed, “and I also think of ‘Hannah Montana'”.“‘Even Stevens’ in My Case”says Austin Walker. Other productions of the time that they did not want to forget are ‘Skating with the heart’, ‘Smart House’, ‘Los Proud’ and ‘Zenon: The girl of the millennium’.

Another of the films mentioned was “High School Musical”. “Explain to me why I was singing High School Musical last night. It’s funny because I don’t think I know many of the lyrics, so I sing the chorus over and over for hours.”Olivera says, “and I also liked ‘Kim Possible'”. Zeta-Jones was also no stranger to the comments as her children have grown up with them all. The ones that the actress stands out the most are the aforementioned ‘Hannah Montana’ and ‘High School Musical’. “We were a very musical family, so whenever we could sing it was a lot of fun”to recognize.
“The Quest: Beyond the Story” is now available on Disney+.
