The hurricane that is ravaging the DC universe continues. Since the arrival of new management at parent company Warner Bros. Discovery and the election of James Gunn and Peter Safran as the new presidents of DC Studios, we’ve seen the franchise gear up for its biggest reboot yet. Reboot that comes with drastic measures like canceling Henry Cavill’s return as Superman.

Dwayne Johnson was a key piece in Clark Kent’s unsuccessful newcomer, having pushed for the character’s inclusion in the ‘Black Adam’ post-credits scene, confronting former DC managers and taking advantage of the changing of the guard to get away with it. He himself sold ‘Black Adam’ as the start of a new era in DC, but its decent box office figures and the fact that Gunn and Safran seem to want to wipe everything clean don’t bode well for Teth’s return. Adams.
A tweet recently went viral claiming The Rock had unfollowed DC on Instagram and the official account for his movie, ‘Black Adam’, as well as Warner Bros. Discovery. The actor, who in recent days has been at the center of several rumors, decided to cut his losses and tweeted what is this voice “100% fake” and that he never followed those accounts on Instagram. In response to a reporter complained of the “insanely toxic time and culture” guilty of this rumor.
Johnson continues to follow Warner, HBO Max, DC Comics and ‘Black Adam’ accounts on Twitter and keeps the film poster on his profile. What it didn’t do is promote the film’s premiere via streaming, though it didn’t need to to become the most-watched film on the platform in its first few days.
Henry Cavill, a pawn of The Rock?
As for the future of Black Adam, James Gunn didn’t comment on the possibility of a return other than saying on Instagram that the whole post-credits scene and Henry Cavill “return” thing “It happened before I was in charge”, distancing himself from all that drama. Dany Garcia, representative of both Johnson and Cavill, was the one who convinced Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy, manager of the studio’s film division, to bring Superman back to life and start new projects. But the Hollywood Reporter reports that the negotiations reached only a verbal agreement and nothing was signed when the new heads of the DC universe arrived. One person familiar with the entire conflict goes so far as to say that Cavill, who posted a statement announcing his return shortly after the premiere of ‘Black Adam,’ “He was just a pawn in Dwayne’s failed attempt to control a piece of DC”. It’s very possible that The Rock isn’t part of the future of the saga either (and it’s not that he probably wants to, after all this). Gunn and Safran will provide the first details of their grand plan for the heroes and heroines of Detective Comics next year.
