After recently being teased, Amazon Studios has officially announced that they have secured the global rights to the Warhammer 40,000 game from Games Workshop for Henry Cavilland will star in and executive produce the franchise’s projects, which will include feature films, TV shows, games and animation.
They’re giving it their all in this sci-fi fantasy action franchise and Cavill is leading the charge! See! Cavill doesn’t need Superman or… The sorcerer! He’s about to build his own franchise and I couldn’t be more excited!
Warhammer 40,000 is set in the distant future, “where humanity stands on the brink of what could be its brightest future, or its darkest age. The threats to humanity’s empire are many: traitors driven by the fire of ambition, alien empires sworn to reclaim the stars, and the corruption of reality by evil gods.
The game was launched almost 40 years ago and the Warhammer brand has expanded through GAW’s miniatures, source books, board games, animations, novels, a wide range of licensed material and video games.
Jennifer Salkehead of Amazon and MGM Studios, said in a statement: “Warhammer 40,000 has captured the imaginations of fans of all ages, from all walks of life and across the globe. We are thrilled to be working with Henry, Vertigo Entertainment and Games Workshop in all our Amazon entertainment activities on this brilliant and engaging franchise that our global customers will be able to experience for years to come.
