Jake Lacyknown for his roles in The office And I’m dying hereas well as her Emmy-nominated role in The White Lotusand the recent limited series A family friendshe signed on to star alongside Kiefer Sutherland in an updated version of the story Caine’s mutiny court-martialed at Show. The film will be based on the 1953 comedy by Hermann Woukitself an adaptation of his Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, The Caine Mutiny.
The original story follows a naval officer who is tried for mutiny after taking command from a ship’s captain whom he believes is acting unstable, endangering both the ship and its crew. While the original is set during World War II, the new project is updated by the director William Friedkinwho said of the update:
“The original piece was written for WWII and Wouk included all the pent-up anger in this country because of Pearl Harbor. I’ve updated it so it’s no longer Pearl Harbor. I made it contemporary, involving the Gulf of Hormuz and the Strait of Hormuz, up to Iran».
A film based on the novel was released in 1954 starring Humphrey Bogart such as Queeg and Van Johnson in the role of Maryk. In the update, Lacy will play Stephen Maryk, Queeg’s (Sutherland) executive officer aboard Caine, and the officer who relieved Queeg of duty.
