Trevor Noah credits black women for “shaping” him in the final episode of “Daily Show.”

On occasion trevor noahlast episode of the daily schedule On Thursday (December 8), the comedian thanked all the correspondents, friends and fans who supported him over the past seven years as he took over after Jon StewartTrevor’s departure, 38, also made sure to give “a special shout out to women of color” during his closing remarks. “I have often been credited with having these great ideas. Who do you think teaches me? Who do you think shaped me, fed me, [and] I inform myself? My mother, my grandmother, my aunts, all these black women in my life.

“If you really want to get to know America, talk to black women,” Noah continued. “Because unlike anyone else, black women can’t afford to get laid and find out. Black people understand how hard it is when things go wrong, especially in the United States, but wherever there are black people, whether it’s Brazil, South Africa, anywhere, when things go wrong, black people know it gets worse for them. But black women especially know what shit is, really.”

“People are always surprised [and say] to me, ‘Why black women are the way they are in America, because they vote [the way they do] – they know what happens if things don’t go the way they should. They can’t afford to find out,” Trevor said. He named the writer and the professor Roxane Gay, Tressie McMillan Cottom, Zoé Tsamudzi🇧🇷 Tarana Burke, and other “bright and brilliant women” who shared their knowledge and wisdom with him.

“If you really want to know what to do or how to do it, or maybe the best way or the fairest way, talk to women of color,” Noah added. “There are many reasons I’m here. So I’m grateful to them.”
