BONES AND ALL Director Luca Guadagnino adapts the novel QUEER into a feature film starring Daniel Craig

Academy Award-nominated director Luca Guadagnino (Call me by your name) has signed on to adapt the William S. Burroughs novel Queer for the big screen, with Daniel Craig in the lead role. Justin Kuritzkes he’s writing the adaptation.

Queer follows Lee, who chronicles his life in Mexico City among expat American college students and bar owners surviving on part-time jobs and GI Bill subsidies. Lee is awkward, insecure, and driven to pursue a young man named Allerton, based on Adelbert Lewis Marker (1930-1998), a recently discharged US Navy serviceman from Jacksonville, FL who befriended Burroughs in Mexico City.

The novel is a sequel to Burroughs’ Drug addict and focuses on Naked lunch heroin author. Queer was published in 1985, although it was written between 1951 and 1953.

Guadagnino, who also directed Suspiria and the recently released Bones and allis also in the early stages of development on an Audrey Hepburn biopic featuring Rooney Mara Attached. Craig recently returned to the Knives out franchise in the sequel Glass Onion.
