If you are looking for a new horror film that offers a hellish nightmare, maybe this new indie horror film, Thorns, it’s right for you. The film is heavy Hellraiser vibes, and focuses on a menacing demon that has been unleashed through a portal in space.
The film comes from the director Douglas Schulze (The dark below, Master of Hell, Mimesis), and the story follows “a former priest working for NASA is sent to investigate a remote observatory that has gone silent after receiving a mysterious radio signal from deep space. Upon arrival, he discovers that the signal has opened a portal unleashing a prickly monster. The former priest must now recall his lost faith to stop the signal from triggering the end of the world again.
The director told Gruesome Magazine, “The film blends the themes of religion and science within the framework of a classic 80s monster movie. Thorns it’s ripe with physical makeup effects and lots of gore.
The film’s cast includes the horror icon Douglas Bradley (Hellraiser), and is set to be released in late 2023.
