Jackie Chan he recently made an appearance at the Red Sea Film Festival and while there he revealed to his fans that he is currently in talks to make it Rush hour 4. The first three Rush hour the movies were silly and funny and I actually wouldn’t mind seeing Chan in action again in a new movie in the series.
He told the audience, “We’re talking about Part 4 right now,” and added that he would be meeting with the film’s director that evening to discuss the script. She did not reveal who that director is, but the first three films were directed by Brett Ratner. I seriously doubt he’s involved, though. He hasn’t made a film since 2014 and has been accused by several women, including Olivia Munn, of sexual harassment and misconduct.
Chan starred in the first three Rush Hour films between 1998 and 2007 alongside the comedian and actor Chris Tucker. There’s no word on whether Tucker will return, but it really wouldn’t be a Rush Hour movie without him. He’s been talking a lot about a fourth film over the years, so I guess he’ll jump in if that happens.
The franchise centers on a Hong Kong detective inspector who teams up with a loud-mouthed LAPD officer to solve a series of international crimes. Chan said he expected the film to make a box office bomb and was planning to leave Hollywood, but the film was a big hit.
Before Rush Hour came to Chan, he was tired of being offered roles that involved him playing an East Asian detective in America. He wanted to do more, but his agent managed to convince him to do it Rush hour. He said, “My manager said look, there’s a script, and it’s called Rush Hour. I said no, Hong Kong Police? I will not do that. He said Jackie, why don’t you try one last time. I said ok this is the last time.
After the release of the first film, Chan said he got a call from Ratner and Tucker, who said, “Man, we had a huge success. We are at 70 million in the first weekend. For me, I don’t have a count of what 70 million is. I don’t know the box office. I just know it’s definitely a hit. And then they made part 2 and part 3. Now, maybe part 4!
Chan also said that he plans to make less action films and is trying to make more romance. She is currently preparing a project which she has described as a “female drama”. She said, “I hope she can come out here very soon. It’s a drama film. And it’s made for women. I hope you can see it one day.
