Singer, songwriter and actress Taylor Swift is set to make her feature film directorial debut with a project staged at Searchlight Pictures. She will be directing from an original script that she also wrote.
There are no details on what story the film will tell, but Searchlight president David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield said in a joint statement, “Taylor is a unique artist and storyteller of her generation. It is a real joy and privilege to collaborate with her as she embarks on this exciting new creative journey.”
Swift has directed before, but not a feature film. She was recently nominated for two Best Director awards for her work All too well: the short film And The man. She is the first artist ever to win three Video of the Year awards and only the second woman to direct the winning video for Best Longform Video (All too well: the short film).
I’m curious to see what kind of story his first feature film will tell. There’s no denying that Swift is incredibly talented and it will be interesting to see her use those talents in a film project.
