“Avatar: The Sense of Water”: James Cameron compares the effects of his Na’vis with those of Marvel and Thanos

James Cameron continues to promote ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’. The first part of the saga opened up a whole new world in terms of digital development and the sequel would not be outdone. With the help of his trusty WETA, the leading digital effects company behind “The Lord of the Rings,” the visionary director set out to top his 2009 hit, and the result is almost there.

“Our team at WETA Digital is constantly hiring and leaving that company”explains Cameron, referring to IL&M, which handles most of the effects of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “That makes everything better. That said, WETA Effects, as it’s called now, is the best. Right? Industrial Light & Magic does a great job, but as far as the facial emotions we’re doing… Thanos? Although his words can create confusion (and this happened on the Internet), in the interview Cameron, far from belittling the superhero cinema of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, explains how this type of cinema inspires you to keep working on progressin new technologies: “Big comic book movies have driven the sheer volume of the industry… the way technology grows drives us all”admitted the manager.

But unintentionally, the director has entered swampy ground ever since these statements have been misinterpreted from the press, implying that the director was mocking or belittling the greatest villain in Marvel history, when in fact he was praising him, as it was the work of WETA, the company he considers superior.
