Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy, owners of the production company Intrepid Pictures, promoted the horror genre with series such as “The Haunting of Hill House”, “The Haunting of Bly Manor” or “Midnight Mass”. After ending his multi-year contract with Netflix, the creators have decided to continue expanding their trajectory, this time in collaboration with Amazon Studios. This involves the cancellation of his most recent series for Netflix, ‘The Midnight Club’.

“Amazon is a studio we’ve admired for a long time”Flanagan and Macy told Deadline. “His commitment to engaging in innovative series and content aligns with the way of working we have built at Intrepid. [Pictures]. We look forward to working with the entire Amazon team as we bring our brand to service and audiences around the world.”. The director and screenwriter also posted a tweet where he said: “We can’t wait to start this new chapter”.
I’m very excited to be able to officially talk about this. I can’t wait to embark on this new chapter of Intrepid Pictures on @AmazonStudios https://t.co/SFg7emsDwp

Amazon Studios’ head of global television, Vernon Sanders, shared his excitement: “Mike and Trevor are amazing at telling gripping, suspenseful stories that masterfully keep audiences engaged from start to finish”while claiming that the company is “happy to welcome you” and wishing “let our global customers experience their genre creativity”.
However, this new stage also implies the end of others, such as ‘The Midnight Club’, which has been canceled and it will not continue after its first season. The Netflix series had a cast consisting of Matt Biedel, Ruth Codd, Annarah Cymone, Zach Gilford, Heather Langenkamp, Aya Furukawa, Virginia Penney, Igby Rigney, Sauriyan Sapkota.
Movies, safe
It is not yet known what the contract change will mean for the series “The Fall of the House of Usher”, based on the well-known novel by Edgar Allan Poe, the premiere of which was expected on Netflix for 2023 and repeated some of the favorite faces of the manufacturers. However, Deadline says so the contract maintains the independence of the production house in terms of feature films, being able to collaborate with external studios as they have done previouslyLike when Intrepid Pictures produced ‘The Strangers’ for Universal. Plus, they’re already working on their next film project, with Flanagan penning the script and directing the behind-the-scenes footage.
