Valve will be giving away a Steam deck every minute during the Game Awards

The Game Awards will take place in about a week as of this writing. This is the time for gamers and the gaming industry to celebrate the previous year in gaming. Fans can vote on their favorite games, esports teams, content creators and more, and studios show new trailers and make announcements.

It’s a win-win for almost everyone. Well, Valve wants to make the event potentially even better for you. Every minute of The Game Awards live broadcast will see Valve gift one lucky viewer with a Steam Deck! The Game Awards are no short show. Last year, the event lasted about 3 hours! This means that Valve can expect to give away around 180 Steam decks! And it’s the 512GB version that’s the higher-end model!

How will this giveaway work? You can read the official rules, but I’ll try to break it down. First, there are two ways to enter. The first is to go to Steam and sign up for the freebie. Then, you must watch The Game Awards live on December 8 via Steam (at steam.tv). Every minute, one name from the subscriber pool will be entered into the chat and that one will be the winner. One caveat to all of this is that you must live in Canada, the EU, the UK, or the US. Another caveat is that you must have made a purchase on Steam between November 14, 2021 and November 14, 2022. Other rules are that you must be in good standing and not have a limited account.

The other way to enter is to mail a self-addressed 4″x6″ note card with your name, address, city, state, country, zip code, email address, Steam account name (this account may be limited or unlimited), telephone number and the name and date of the Giveaway (The Game Awards 2022 Giveaway) to Valve. Must be postmarked on or before December 8th and received by Valve before December 19th.

The chances of winning will be the same regardless of the method used. This is big enough where I’ll probably be watching The Game Awards via Steam in hopes of winning one of these bad boys. In case you need an upgrade, Steam Deck is essentially a portable PC with everything you need to play your favorite games on the go. I’ve heard really good things about Steam Deck and hopefully one day I’ll be able to give it a try. Will you try to win one of these bad boys?

The Game Awards will take place on December 8 starting with a preshow at 4:30pm PT and the main show at 5pm PT.
