From Lupita Nyong’o to Chris Pratt: Tributes to Chadwick Boseman on his 46th birthday

Chadwick Boseman passed away on August 28, 2020. Boseman was a beloved man in Hollywood and his legacy continues through the ‘Black Panther’ saga.with ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ currently in theaters, and in real life, with his charity, the Chadwick Boseman Foundation for the Arts, dedicated to empowering black creators in culture and entertainment.

The interpreter would have turned 46 on November 29 and on his birthday the networks were filled with tributes to him and his contribution to cinema. Among them, the Marvel stars who have shared the scene with him in the different installments of the MCU and who have been in charge of keeping the flame of the Black Panther alive without him. Actors and actresses like Lupita Nyong’o, Sebastian Stan or Danai Gurira, not only work colleagues, but also friends and family.

Lupita Nyong’o, who plays Nakia, T’Challa’s love in the Marvel Universe, shared a video of an interview with the actor, with the following message: “The legacy continues. Another “Black Panther” saga partner, Danai Gurira, who plays Okoye in the franchise, shared a video with a special message. “Today would have been Chadwick’s 46th birthday plus it’s #GivingTuesday”writes the actress on Instagram. “In his honor, I want to help raise awareness of the Chadwick Boseman Foundation for the Arts, which supports the intellectual, spiritual and artistic growth of black storytellers. Chadwick has always cared about his community and taught me that it is a privilege to be a part of something bigger than you. Our King’s legacy will live on forever”.

Sebastian Stan, who plays Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier, in the Marvel Studios films, joined in with another video posted to the Boseman Foundation Networks. “Today I thought of Chadwick and reflected on the legacy he left behind”says Stan in the video. “I thought about what a wonderful leader and human being he was and how much he inspired me and the world, not only through his strength, but also through his examples of love and empathy.. I’ve thought about the gift Chad could have given me, and when I think about it, I guess what comes to mind is the realization and remembrance of the potential I have as a human being.”.

Chris Pratt, Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord in the MCU, took to Instagram Stories to share their Boseman birthday message, while also noting the opportunity for #GivingTuesday to fall this year, and like their peers, urging their fans to contribute to his charitable foundation. “Chad was a born leader”wrote the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ actor. “He was strong, courageous, loyal and most of all, empathetic. Chad was the kind of man who would light up the room when he walked in with a smile that never stopped”.

While he’s not a part of the Marvel Universe (his stepfather, Kurt Russell, is), Kate Hudson (“Daggers in the Back: The Mystery of the Glass Onion”) also wanted to take advantage of the important date to honor Boseman and support his organization: “It’s Chadwick Boseman’s birthday and in honor of his incredible life and legacy, I wanted to share this in the hopes that you’ll support his foundation with donations”.
