Director Sam Mendes is back with a new movie titled Empire of Light. Mendes is a wonderful filmmaker who has made both big budget epics like the James Bond films and 1917and small, intimate movies like Revolutionary road And american beauty. Regardless of the type of film he makes, one thing that is always constant is that he knows how to tell a beautiful and engaging story.

Well, it does it again with Empire of Light, which is both a love letter to cinema and movie theaters and a heavy drama involving romance and mental health. The film is set in the 1980s in an old cinema on the coast of England. It is officially described as “a powerful and touching story about human connection and the magic of cinema”.

Empire of Light it’s a character study that really dives into the human psyche. He is the protagonist Olivia Colmann whose character has a whirlwind of emotions throughout the film. Her character, Hilary Small, is struggling with many different aspects of life, including her mental health, and trying to keep it together.

Throughout the story, she forms a relationship with a colleague named Stephen, wonderfully played by Micheal Ward, and this relationship makes her life happy and exciting again, but it also comes with challenges as her mind starts to break down. in the process and she starts falling into a dark place.

Olivia Colman is the heart of this film and once again delivers an incredible performance that will likely end up winning her another Best Actress Oscar. This film has all the makings of Oscar bait and while it won’t make much money at the box office, it is a prestigious film that will get all the award nominations.

While Colman is the focus of the film, my favorite character was Norman, played by Toby Jones. He is the cinema projectionist and I loved all the scenes he was involved in, which unfortunately weren’t many. But the character of him is the character I was able to connect to the most.

The film is also the protagonist Michele Ward, Colin Firth, Tom Brooke, Tanya mood, Hanna OnslowAnd Crystal Clark. The music for the film was also created by Trent Reznor And Ross penthouse.

This movie definitely isn’t for everyone because of the subject matter. It won’t be a runaway success at the box office because it’s not that kind of movie, but you can tell the director is passionate about the story. Some people might find that story long and boring, but it’s a beautifully crafted film that cinephiles are sure to enjoy and enjoy.
