Although its release in theaters is still a few weeks away, Disney has already set in motion the promotional campaign for “Avatar: The Sense of Water”. But of course there’s a lot at stake with a sequel being delayed with such a gigantic budget. A few days ago they released the final trailer of James Cameron’s film, and now present a shorter but very intense advance:
A new invasion threatens Pandora and… the Na’vi will have to turn again to the creatures that populate this world to settle a war in which enemies return with the full force of technology and firearms. In the commercial we see how the bestiary of the franchise has grown in this sequel, especially with regard to aquatic animals.
One of the most expensive movies in history
As we said, Cameron has spared no expense to make the sequel to ‘Avatar’, which arrives thirteen years after the first, and which continues to hold the title of the highest-grossing film in history. According to rumors, ‘The Sense of Water’ would have cost between 350 and 400 million dollars, added to the ad spend (which is usually around the same amount) would mean the film would need to cross the $800 million mark at the box office to start earning. Luckily, Disney managed to secure its release in China, where the first ‘Avatar’ was a hit. But the COVID-19 situation is out of control again, so it’s not as secure value as it once was.

“Avatar: The Sense of Water” is once again led by Zoe Saldaña and Sam Worthington as Neytiri and Jake, and rounds out the cast with Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, Giovanni Ribisi and Kate Winslet, among others. Its theatrical release will take place on December 16..
