Jensen Ackles (Supernatural, the boys) says he’s up for the lead in the 20th Century Studios film Dead Pool movie. During an appearance at the Salute to Supernatural convention in Phoenix, Ackles said he was “very much in talks” about the film, but added that he wasn’t available due to his schedule, thus cutting things short. Here’s what he said:
“There was definitely a movie I was talking about a lot. I wasn’t available, so the train stopped there. But, if I was available, I’d have to, you know, jump through the Hoops in the studio and you jump through, you know, the hoops of the producer and stuff like that. But I had a really good take, and it’s a movie that I really like a lot.
“It was probably a good thing because my ex girlfriend was there and so it was probably going to be awkward so it probably worked out for the best. I think the whole cast was amazing. I probably would have messed it up for a lot of people if I had.” part, so it’s probably best that I don’t, but that would have been nice.
From what I understood Ryan Reynolds he was what actually prompted the film to be made from the beginning, so I’m not sure when Ackles was even considered, because Reynolds was always involved. In fact, he produced and even financed part of this film. I couldn’t find anything that says the studio was looking for other actors to play Deadpool. But maybe there was a moment when they were watching other actors.
Regardless, Reynolds is the perfect Deadpool, and while Ackles is a good actor, there’s no way he was able to effectively portray this character.
I’m just happy with what we’ve seen from the Deadpool movies and I’m especially excited Deadpool 3with the return of Wolverine!
What do you think about all this? Do you think Ackles would have made a good Deadpool?
