Horror movies hidden in the Amazon Prime Video catalog

As with all streaming platforms at the moment, there are titles that receive all the attention of their subscribers, either because they are original productions or because they are among the previews and news. However, there are others that remain under wraps as well, such as these horror films that went unnoticed during their tenure on Amazon Prime Video.

Perhaps one of the best known, but undoubtedly ‘Vivarium’ is a Hidden horror thriller movie on Amazon Prime Video. Well, unlike other big premieres on the platform, the story with Jesse Eisenberg and Imogen Pots didn’t have a big campaign. Here, a young couple wants to buy a house, but a real estate agent takes them to a rather strange area.

Neon Demon

With Elle Fanning, Jena Malone and Keanu Reeves, we have ‘The Neon Demon’, a horror movie and suspense directed by Nicolas Winding Refn, about Jesse, a young model who enters the world of fashion and is hired by a world-famous agency. Between sessions, fashion shows and glamour, her make-up artist has very different intentions with her. Available on Amazon Prime Video.

the messenger of evil

Starring Emma Roberts, Kiernan Shipka and Lucy Boynton, it’s ‘the messenger of evil’, a horror film on Amazon Prime Video. The story follows Joan, Kat and Rose, three friends brought together by mystery. While waiting for their parents to pick them up from the winter holidays, a series of fatal accidents makes them notice that a presence accompanies them.

Color from space

Based on the stories of acclaimed horror author, Howard Phillips Lovecraft, we have ‘Color out of Space’, a sci-fi horror film starring Joely Richardson and Nicolas Cage. It is about a family who one day experiences a meteorite fall on their farm patio, which brings an extraterrestrial organism that infects their minds and bodies, changing their perspective. Devil doll

After seven installments of the saga, in 2019 director Lars Klevberg gave a twist to the story of Chucky with ‘The Diabolical Doll’, the reboot of the franchise, in which Gabriel Bateman, Aubrey Plaza, Mark Hamill and others were involved. As in the original, Andy and his new doll become best friends, but the toy hides a dark secret.

The manor

Finally, one of the original Amazon Prime Video horror films, and which has not received the necessary recognition, is “The Manor”, released in 2021 by Axelle Carolyn, and starring Barbara Hershey, Jill Larson, Bruce Davison, among others. She is about a woman who has just suffered a stroke and is now being transferred to a nursing home where she suspects that something supernatural is haunting the residents.
