Quentin Tarantino Says Marvel Actors ‘Aren’t Movie Stars’ – Agency (AP)
Once again, ‘Pulp Fiction’ director Quentin Tarantino has spoken out about the implications Marvel movies have on the film industry today. He even criticized the fact that his actors are not the real stars of Hollywood as many believe, since they are the characters they bring to life, the ones people recognize and admire, the director points out.
In a new interview for the 2 Bears 1 Cave podcast (via Variety), Quentin Tarantino pointed out Marvel actors and Hollywood’s lack of big stars. “Part of the wonder of Hollywood is…there are all these actors who have become famous playing these characters. But they are not movie stars. Right?” commented the director.
The manager of titles such as ‘Reserve Dogs’ or ‘Inglourious Basterds’, said that the real stars of Marvel are their characters: “Captain America is the star. Or Thor is the star. I mean, I’m not the first person to say this. I think it’s been said a million times… but it’s like, you know, these characters in the franchise become stars.”
However, like his Quentin Tarantino quotes: “I’m not even belittling [a los actores] frankly, to tell you the truth. But that’s one of… it’s marvel’s legacy of Hollywood movies.” comics for many years.

Quentin Tarantino would never work with Marvel
What annoys the director the most is that superhero movies create the need for big studios to want to bet on big productions that bring in big profits, instead of giving different directors and artists the opportunity to showcase their stories about the big screen. That’s why Quentin Tarantino said on more than one occasion that he would not work with Marvel.
Despite not being interested in being part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Quentin Tarantino has been a fan of Luke Cage, his favorite hero, since the 80s, when he collected his comics. He also recently said that if there’s one House of Ideas story he’d like to reprise, it’s ‘Sgt. Fury and his Howling Soldiers’, an arc where Nick Fury finds himself in the middle of WWII.
Also, if it were possible, Quentin Tarantino could once again direct Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, an actor he previously worked with in ‘Pulp Fiction’, ‘Django Unchained’ and others. For now, the director has postponed the production of his new and latest film, and will start work on his first series of 8 chapters, of which no further details are known yet.
