This year will mark the big return of Brendan Fraser to the big screen for ‘The Whale’, Darren Aronofsky’s new film which has been highly acclaimed at every film festival where it has been screened. The actor’s performance had many seeing him strong in the following award season, but Fraser is clear he will never return to the Golden Globes.

Thanks to his performance in “The Whale”, Brendan Fraser has stated that he will not attend the Golden Globes were to be named, during a recent interview with People. “I have more history with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association than I respect the Hollywood Foreign Press Association,” the ‘The Mummy’ actor said.

I will not participate. It’s because of the history I have with them. My mother didn’t raise a hypocrite. You can call me many things, but not that,” added Brendan Fraser.

The real reason Brendan Fraser won’t be attending the Golden Globes is because, in 2018, the actor of ‘The Mummy’ revealed that he was sexually abused by Phillip Berk, who was the president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association at the time. It was 2003, when Fraser approached to greet Berk, who took the opportunity to touch him inappropriately.

From 2003 to 2018, Brendan Fraser has never spoken about the allegations against Phillip Berk, and all the while he had to deal with his trauma, as well as the belief that he was blacklisted in Hollywood, which affected his burgeoning film career for many years. The HFPA president denied the facts, but was fired from his post in 2021 after a letter about the Black Lives Matter movement.
