DC Comics to reduce Batman cast for DCEU future – Warner Bros. (courtesy)
For the first time in a long time, Warner Bros. Discovery has shown signs of what it wants for the future of EUDC, which is that now the company’s CEO, David Zaslav, is aware of the tangle between universes that the Extended Universe currently has from DC and is considering reducing the current number of actors playing the Batman character.
In an RBC-hosted discussion on The Hollywood Reporter (via The Direct), the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, said they want to reduce the 4 Batman actors in the future. Currently, the artists who are bringing the Dark Knight to life are Ben Affleck of the DCEU, Robert Pattinson of ‘The Batman’, the return of Michael Keaton for ‘The Flash’, and finally Ian Glen in the series ‘Titans’.
Although they do not converge within the same timeline, the The CEO promised it “there won’t be four Batmans”, something that will allow him in his next “growth and opportunity” strategy for DC Comics. “So part of our strategy is [expulsar] in hell DC, what will James and Peter do. I think they excited the fans. I think they will turn you on for a period of time.”
currently, Zaslav did not confirm which of the 4 Batmans will cease to exist, but it seems that there are some clues that could give us an advance. Well, Netflix’s ‘Titans’ recently released its fourth season and it’s unknown how it will fit into the future of the EUDC, so that could be an option. The second is that, with ‘Batgirl’ canceled, Michael Keaton doesn’t have many more opportunities, which would leave Pattinson and Affleck at the helm of DC.

The plans of Batman and James Gunn in DC Comics
In the same conversation, Zaslav said that James Gunn and Peter Safran are already “close to the end” of finalizing plans for the future of DC Comics. Namely, a road map for the company’s next 10 years, fitting Batman, Superman and the rest of the DC characters who could make a first appearance or triumphant return to the big screen.
It is currently known that Ben Affleck will appear as Batman in ‘The Flash’ and ‘Aquaman and the Lost Empire’. As for Michael Keaton, the details are still under wraps, and for Robert Pattinson, ‘The Batman’ has many years ahead, but could appear in some of the spin-off series from the Matt Reeves universe for HBO Max, or in other side projects.
Also, it is worth mentioning that even if a rather young Bruce Wayne was seen at the beginning of “Joker”, for the sequel with Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix the little one could have increased his age so much that he could be at the I began my years as a vigilante of Ciudad Gothic. But we’ll have to wait until then to find out how they fix this in DC’s plans.
