‘Indiana Jones’: James Mangold, director of the fifth chapter, assures that no one will ever replace Harrison Ford

In anticipation of the first official trailer of ‘Indiana Jones 5’, rumors continue to emerge about the new film that will put an end to Harrison Ford’s passage through the emblematic saga. On this occasion, various speculations ensure that the Lucasfilm screening would have obtained bad results in some alleged test passages.

Furthermore, they claim that Disney would have recorded up to six different endings, but in all of them Phoebe Waller-Bridge ended up taking over from Ford, inheriting the whip from Indy. For this reason, director James Mangold had to come to the fore to deny this information through his Twitter account.

Replying to a user, ‘Le Mans ’66’ director denied there was any kind of pass test, so there are no such bad results. However, knowing Twitter, this didn’t stop there and another user replied to Mangold reminding him of the existence of these rumors that ensure said succession in the film and the consequent results of the hearings. Therefore, the director was forced to be even more direct in his response than he was.

“Well, Paulo, it’s up to you who to believe, an anonymous troll called ‘basement dweller’ or ‘cursed rooster’ or the director of the film. No one will ever replace Indiana Jones. In no script. In no version. Nothing like this has ever been considered.”assures the manager of ‘Logan’.

Despite Mangold’s place in the franchise, you have to treat his claims with due relevance. This director may reflect the sentiment of the studio, but he is not in charge of making the corresponding decisions regarding the future of the saga; and rumors of an ‘Indiana Jones’ expansion are there. Mostly, the one with more consistency, points towards a new adventure in the form of a series for Disney +. Months ago, we already echoed another rumor that Chris Pratt was the favorite to succeed Ford.

So the franchise created by Steven Spielberg and George Lucas could take any other path than the director’s opinions.. What is clear is that we will have to wait until the summer of next year to finally see how the farewell of the iconic explorer will take place after more than 40 years on the big screen.

* ‘Indiana Jones 5’ opens in theaters June 30, 2023.
