While attending the FilmQuest film festival last week, I saw a social media inspired thriller titled Influencerand this was an incredibly well done movie with a tight script, great acting and an interesting and engaging story that kept me in suspense.
This is a low-budget indie film, but he certainly doesn’t feel like it! This movie looked like it was going to be a big movie. The film tells the kind of crazy and unexpected story that audiences would enjoy watching!
The film is a murder thriller that follows a social media influencer named Madison as he embarks on a solo backpacking trip to Thailand. During her journey, she meets another young woman named CW and the two seem to get along as friends. CW travels with ease and shows Madison a more uninhibited way of life. But CW’s interest in her takes a dark and unexpected turn.
It is difficult to delve into the story without ruining anything. But the movie didn’t go as I thought it would and I loved it for it. The story went much better than I expected it would go. It was very imaginative in the way the story unfolded.
Influencer was masterfully written and directed by Kurtis David Harder. I’d love to see what this guy could do on a real budget for a feature film. In fact, the film was so good that it won numerous awards at the festival, including Best Director.
I have no idea when or if any of you will actually be able to see this film outside the film festival circuit, but I really hope you will! It’s just a good story that takes the audience on a rather crazy and dark journey. I particularly liked the way the film ended up.
