Chris Rock is set to do a cabaret special for Netflix and will be the first comedian to do a live streaming event for the streamer. This is really cool! As a longtime fan of Rock comedy, this is something I definitely won’t miss!
Robbie Shrimp, Netflix Vice President of Comedy and Comedy Formats said, “Chris Rock is one of the most iconic and important comedic voices of our generation. We are thrilled that the whole world can experience a live Chris Rock comedy event and be a part of Netflix history. This will be an unforgettable moment and we are so honored that Chris carries this torch ”.
In total, including those from Netflix Tambourine, this will be the seventh stand-up Rock special. He previously released five specials with HBO, including Bigger and blacker And Bring the pain. Rock is currently on his Ego Death world tour.
The fact that this will be streamed live on Netflix is a big deal as it will open the door for a number of his other projects to get the live treatment. I’m surprised it took so long to do something like this!
