Diane Kruger and Suzanne Clement join Richard Gere in “Desire”

EXCLUSIVE: The English-language remake of the Israeli film Desire Richard Gere joined Diane Kruger and Canadian actress Suzanne Clement.

in the DesireGere plays a bachelor who is forced to rethink his life choices when he discovers that an ex-girlfriend gave birth to his son twenty years ago. Savi Gabizon, writer and director of the original film, is back at the helm.

Kruger plays Alice, Gere’s late son’s favorite teacher, while Clement plays the boy’s mother, Rachel.

Daniel Bekerman (The Falling Witch) produced under the banner of Scythia Films with Alexander Vinnitski of Current Flow Entertainment and Neil Mathieson of Arbitrage Pictures.

“We were incredibly lucky to have such an incredible and award-winning cast in this very special and beautiful film, which is a clear testament to Savi’s script and vision for this English-language remake,” said Vinnitski.

Myles Nestel and Lisa Wilson of The Solution Entertainment are producing and managing worldwide distribution. Daniel Goldenberg of Goldenberg & Kie serves as the production committee. The photo is an official co-production of an agreement between Canada and Israel.

Sara Shaak and Matt Smith Lyons of Anamorphic Media Inc. primarily produced and financed the film. Lee Nelson and David Tish of Envision Media Arts (The Ice Road, Mister Church) helped finance and served as MPs.

Oren Moverman and Savi Gabizon of Sight Unseen Pictures serve as EPs along with Hussain Amarshi of Mongrel Media, Moshe Edery of United King and Avraham Pirchi of United Channels Movies and Chilik Michaeli, who served as producers of the original Israeli film with Edery and Gabizon has.

The original film screened at the Venice Film Festival and TIFF in 2017. Gabizon won the BNL People’s Choice Award in Venice for the original film.

Kruger won Best Actress at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival in the fade. She also won a SAG Ensemble Award for her performance in the Quentin Tarantino World War II film. Notorious bastards.
