Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton, The Return of Mary Poppins) will play the character of Hermes in the next adapted series Percy Jackson and the Olympians, based on Rick Riordan’s popular bestselling book series. The series will tell the “fantastic story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson (Walter Scobell), who is just coming to terms with his newfound divine powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his lightning master. With the help of his friends Grover (Aryan Simhadri) and Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries), Percy must embark on an adventure of a lifetime to find her and restore order to Olympus.

“Miranda, who is a fan of Percy Jackson’s books along with her son, will play Hermes, the messenger god who takes care of travelers and thieves, and is a bit of a cheat himself. He is charismatic and boisterous, the life of the party. Unfortunately, her charm doesn’t do much to heal her strained relationship with her son, Luke (Charlie Bushnell). She’s reluctant to help Percy and his friends on their quest, because sometimes getting involved is more of a problem than it’s worth it. “

In addition to regular characters from the Scobell series, Simhadri, Jeffries and Bushnell, Miranda joins previously announced guest stars Megan Mulally, Virginia Kull, Glynn Turman, Jason Mantzukas, Tim Sharp, Dior Goodjohn, Olivea Morton, Adam Copland, Suzanne Cryer And Jessica Parker Kennedy.

The series is currently in production in Vancouver and is expected to premiere exclusively on Disney + in 2024.
