This first season of Loki did crazy and crazy things in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and opened the door to the concept of alternate universes and timelines. There is so much play with the MCU for that reason, and Marvel hasn’t even scratched the surface of the kind of stories that could be told.
The first season focused on Loki and his time working with the Time Variance Authority, aka TVA. During his journey, he found himself in some crazy and fantastic new realities and places in the MCU timeline. Some of the things we saw included historical events such as the destruction of Pompeii in 79 AD, dystopian futures like Alabama in 2050, alien worlds with Lamentis-1, and even a realm among realities that was used by the TVA as a time dump called The Empty.
A new book entitled Loki: The Art of the Marvel Studios Series reveals some great concept art created for the series that show us some of the other timelines in MCU history that Loki could have gone! They are places considered but, obviously, not used.
The concept art you can see below features an Old West location, set during the Industrial Revolution; a city set from the 1970s; a new Asgard setting; Loki as part of the Old Roman Senate; the pyramids and pharaohs of ancient Egypt and a Loki wielding a samurai sword in ancient feudal Japan.
Some of these would have been really cool to see! Check out the art below and tell us what you think! Marvel is currently developing the second season of the Disney + series, which fans are extremely excited about!
