The release date of “The Last of Us”, the adaptation of the same name of the video game Naughty Dog, has been leaked through the HBO Max platform. After that little mistake, the production now confirms launch day, and takes the opportunity to release new details, such as the number of episodes of the series, as well as the first poster starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey.
At the beginning, ‘The last of us’ will have 9 episodes in total, which will arrive on January 15, a date surprisingly closer to what was initially believed. However, the development of the HBO and Sony series always went well during the recordings, which allowed for the producer to finish for the enjoyment of fans as soon as possible.
On the other hand, launched the first manifesto of ‘The last of Noi ‘, where Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey appear, the protagonists who will give life to Joel and Ellie. In the image you can see a city of Boston devastated by the apocalypse caused by a virus that turns people into the undead. Also, you can see how the Cordyceps is very similar to what you might see in the video game.
Starring the legend of “To the edge of the universe and back”, “The Last of Us” is directed by Craig Mazin, the mastermind behind the Emmy-winning series, “Chernobyl”, starring Neil Druckman, director of the original video game, as a writer and producer on the series, and it appears to be one of the big launches of the platform for the following year 2023.
Will the Last of Us have more seasons on HBO?
So far, it has only been confirmedThe last of us’ will have a season, which will include the events of the first and second game. Exact details are unknown, but some arcs or characters from the second part of Naughty Dog could make an appearance during the first 9 episodes and perhaps would extend to a second batch of chapters.
It is worth mentioning that several directors worked on the adaptation of “The Last of Us”, such as Kantemir Balagov, from “A Great Woman”, who left the production, and Neil Druckman himself, who is responsible for the sixth episode. And the rest are Jasmila Zbanic (“Sara’s Revelation”), Ali Abbasi (“Shelley”), Peter Hoar (“Doctor Who”), Jeremy Webb (“The Umbrella Academy”) and Liza Johnson (“Room 104”).
If successful, Craig Mazin told Screenwriting in Colors that HBO could give the green light to a second season, after support from fans. So we’ll have to wait for more details on the new episodes once the first season of this early adaptation is released.
