Warner Bros. Discovery recently made some big changes to its DC film division, which is now called DC Studios, and is run by the director. James Gunn and manufacturer Pietro Safran. Fans have high hopes for DC’s future with these two reigning talents.
There’s also a lot going on at DC Studios in regards to Batman with the director Matt Reeves developing a following to The Batmanand two prequel programs. One of the shows focuses on Colin Farrell’s Penguin and the other is set in Arkham Asylum.
Well, the director of the recent horror movie hit Barbarian, Zach Cregger, he also has a DC project that he hopes to get off the ground. She recently teased in an interview that she wrote the script, it’s set in Gotham City and it’s his favorite thing about him that she wrote.
In a recent interview with CB he said: “I’m writing an original horror currently. There are conversations about existing IP franchises that I can’t talk about and then there’s a script I wrote before Barbarian taking place, ahem, in Gotham. City. And, uh, I actually love … I think it’s my favorite thing I’ve written believe it or not, so I don’t know what’s going to happen with that. None from Warner Bros. or DC. I haven’t talked to anyone. about it. I hope to do it someday. “
He doesn’t offer any other details, but he certainly piqued my interest and I’d love to hear more about this Gotham City-set story he’s thrilled to tell! The question is, will he ever make the film? Only time will tell.
