The hitchhiker’s guide to fantasy travel is an unofficial supplement to Cody Smith which aims to help DMs make travel a little more exciting. Inside you’ll find random encounter tables, NPC stat blocks, battle maps, and even a traveling minigame. There are a few different tables that reflect how the adventuring party is traveling (walking vs horse vs stagecoach), which is nice. There are certainly times I’ve been a DM and wanted to make travel more exciting but wasn’t sure how.
If you are like me you have never been completely satisfied just by allowing your players to travel from point A to point B without anything significant happening. After all, these are RPGs, and RPGs are supposed to emulate real life, and in real life nothing rarely happens when traveling between cities. Especially if it takes days, or even weeks, to get to where you are going. This book was written with DMs in mind. We all know that DMs already have enough things to keep track of while playing games, inventing interesting and engaging travel scenarios doesn’t have to be one of them. The goal of this book is to get it off your DM’s plate
You can buy The hitchhiker’s guide to fantasy travel from DMs Guild (affiliate link) for $ 4.99.
