Brian Cox and Jodie Turner-Smith star in trailer for Peacock’s political thriller THE INDEPENDENT

A new trailer for the political thriller has been released The independent which is headed for Peacock. The trailer features Brian Cox (Troy, Succession) And Jodie Turner-Smith (Regina and Slim, White noise), who play journalists uncovering information about a presidential candidate (played by John Cena) that could change everything. Anna Dowd (The Handmaid’s Tale) plays the presidential opponent in history.

The film was directed by Amy Ricewho directed the documentaries From the people: the election of Barack ObamaAnd Broadway on the riseand the script was written by Evan Parter.

“In The independent, are the last weeks of the most consequential presidential election in history. America is ready to elect its first female president (Dowd) or its first viable independent candidate (Cena). In reporting the story as it is made, a young idealistic journalist (Turner-Smith) teams up with her idol, legendary journalist Nick Booker (Cox), to uncover a conspiracy that puts the fate of the elections in their hands and of the country “.
