James Cameron doesn’t like short films. His two most successful films, “Avatar” and “Titanic”, far exceed two hours. “Titanic” is over three hours. Of course, “Avatar: The Sense of Water” is not meant to interrupt that winning streak. Cameron wants us to get a good deal on the ticket when we go back to Pandora in December.

As reported by the Hollywood Reporter, the length of the “Avatar” sequel would be three hours and ten minutes, of which a dozen would be for the credits. It’s practically half an hour longer than the first installment (“Avatar” runs for 2 hours and 41 minutes), and it would only be about four minutes under “Titanic”.
While it may seem like a long time sitting in an armchair, duration has never been an impediment to making blockbusters. In fact, the three highest-grossing films in history globally (without adjusting to inflation) exceed three hours in length (they are “Avatar”, “Avengers: Endgame” and “Titanic”). And adjusting to inflation, “Gone with the Wind” is still the queen and lasts nearly four hours.
I don’t want complaints
It shouldn’t surprise us that ‘Avatar: The Sense of Water’ goes beyond three hours because James Cameron had already warned several months ago that he didn’t want any complaints with the duration: “I don’t want anyone complaining about the length when people stuff themselves with eight hours of television.. I can almost write the reviews already: “The agonizing three-hour film”. Leave me alone! I’ve seen my kids watch five one-hour episodes in a row. “. The important thing: remember to go to the bathroom before entering the room.
Preview “Avatar: Sense of Water”. in theaters on December 16th.
