In June 1982, Steven Spielberg’s “ET, the Extraterrestrial” hit US theaters.. The story of this little alien and his friendship with a boy named Elliott (Henry Thomas) melted the hearts of viewers, consecrated Spielberg as one of the best directors of the moment, smashed at the box office and won four Oscars. Today it is a classic with all the letters, a film that keeps the emotion despite having already passed 40 years.

Drew Barrymore, whom we met as little Gertie in ‘ET’, wanted to celebrate the anniversary of the film that made her famous. Taking advantage of her TV show, the actress invited her castmates Henry Thomas (Elliott), Dee Wallace (Mary) and Robert MacNaughton (Michael). The four recall their time on set and the film’s legacy with a rerun of ET

The show will air on US television on October 31, but CBS has already released some sneak peeks of the interview, in which Barrymore recalled the deep friendship he had made with the alien despite not being real. He ate with him and asked the locker room to put a scarf on him so he wouldn’t get cold from the set’s air conditioning.. Dee Wallace told Spielberg, that he asked a couple of people to make ET look alive so as not to break the magic with the girl.
Continuation?
During the conversation (via EW) the eternal question of a possible follow-up many years later also arose, but none of them seem really interested as the original’s screenwriter, Melissa Mathison, is dead.. There are cult films that are best left as they are. If the nostalgia has arrived, you can watch ‘ET El Extraterrestre’ streaming on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, HBO Max and Movistar +.
